A Celebration of the Life of Carol Carlson.

This is a place to remember and celebrate the life of Carol (Tootsie) Carlson. Carol passed July 5, 2019 in Kyle, Tx.

Carol was born to the late Caroline (Martini) and Henry Carlson on September 20, 1940, and is also preceded in death by her brother Henry (Jack) Carlson Jr.

Carol attended St. Mary's Academy in Nauvoo, IL. She soon went on to become Sr. Brigid. This time in her life inspired many delightful and marvelous stories. Carol's path then took her to Chicago where she attended DePaul University. It's there she met Piper's father, Gordon Koplulos. With her busy schedule, she found time to work at the University of Chicago.

In 1979, it was time to give birth to her only daughter, Piper. Her employers liked her so much they asked her to stay. She stated that the baby will be here soon and that there was no room for a crib. Once her daughter was born, Carol returned to her office to collect her things to find a beautiful crib and nursery there. So, stayed she did. This wonderful gesture is representative of how much people's lives were touched and influenced by her. Those close to Carol knew her to be perceptive, dependable, and driven. Carol was a source of light to those around her.

She truly had a gift for picking up a new craft and excelling in it. She learned to paint, sculpt, draw, sew, and play piano among other things. Her talent, however, didn't end in the arts. She was a go-getter, which was evident in her resourcfulness. She acquired the tools and knowledge to tackle whatever issues may arise in the household from plumbing and heating to drywall. While she worked very hard, she always had a smile on her face and was often found singing.

Carol became a member of St. Maurice school board and parish. She also worked as a librarian and tutor at St. Maurice where her daughter attended grammar school. She brought sunshine everywhere she went. She then went on to work at the Veterns of Foreign Wars from where she retired. She spent most of her retirement in Chicago at home with Piper and Gordon.

She spent the final chapter of her life enjoying the peace and sunshine of the country with her daughter Piper.
